Panvel: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has ramped up its crackdown on property tax defaulters, launching a large-scale seizure and confiscation campaign under the directives of Commissioner Mangesh Chitale. As part of this intensified enforcement, ₹2.5 crore in outstanding property tax was recovered in a single day from businesses in the Taloja Industrial Estate.
Deputy Commissioner Swarup Kharge is leading efforts to recover pending dues from defaulters across industrial estates and commercial properties. The municipal corporation has taken strict action against major defaulters, including Technopet Machinery and Meridian Company in New Panvel’s industrial area, along with Suvitha Cold Storage in Kamothe. Several other factories and hotels with unpaid property taxes are also facing confiscation proceedings as part of the ongoing drive.
The aggressive recovery campaign aims to ensure tax compliance and increase revenue collection for civic development projects. With multiple pre-seizure notices and warrant notices already issued, property owners are under pressure to clear their dues promptly. The Panvel Municipal Corporation has made online payment facilities available through the PMC TAX APP and its official website, allowing taxpayers to settle their dues conveniently.
Officials have warned that further action will be taken against persistent defaulters, with more manpower being deployed to expedite the recovery process. The municipal corporation has urged property owners to pay their taxes before the March 31 deadline to avoid legal consequences and support the city’s development initiatives.
