NMMT Introduces Smart Card Scheme for Free Travel for Senior Citizens

Date:

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has launched a Smart Card scheme to provide senior citizens with free bus travel, making the process entirely digital. This initiative was announced by Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde on the occasion of NMMT’s 29th anniversary.

Earlier, senior citizens had to visit NMMT pass centers or the Turbhe depot in person to obtain their Smart Card for free bus travel. However, with the introduction of the online application system, they can now apply for their bus passes digitally through the NMMT Bus Tracker App, eliminating the need for physical visits and long queues.

To apply for the Smart Card, eligible senior citizens need to follow these steps:

  1. Download the NMMT Bus Tracker App on their smartphone.
  2. Fill out the online application form available on the app.
  3. Upload the required documents, such as age proof and address proof.
  4. Pay a processing fee of ₹750 online.
  5. Once the application is approved, the Smart Card will be delivered via post to their registered address.

A Step Towards Digital Transformation

NMMT is actively encouraging all senior citizens in Navi Mumbai to take advantage of this scheme for smooth and hassle-free travel experience. The initiative aligns with the city’s broader efforts to integrate digital solutions into public transportation, minimize paperwork, and improve convenience for commuters.

This move not only enhances accessibility for senior citizens but also supports smart mobility initiatives, making public transport in Navi Mumbai more efficient and user-friendly.
