Navi Mumbai: In a bid to combat worsening traffic congestion in the Luxus Tower area of Kharghar, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have announced the introduction of an alternate side (odd-even) parking system starting May 13, 2025.
The new system will apply to a 600-meter stretch of road in front of Luxus Tower and surrounding societies, including Aarshivad Heights, Bharat Sanskar Housing Society, Sapphire Society, Monarch Luxuria, Girija Heights, Swagat Society, and Supreme Tower. Vehicles will be required to park on designated sides of the road on alternate days to allow smoother traffic flow and ensure that essential service vehicles can pass unhindered.
The decision follows multiple complaints of severe congestion caused by indiscriminate parking on both sides of the road, especially as residents face limited parking space within their societies. Emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, fire brigade trucks, and police vehicles, were frequently obstructed, causing delays.
“This measure will streamline traffic and make sure that roads remain accessible for emergency services. The alternate side parking will allow one side of the road to remain clear for smoother passage,” said Tirupati Kakade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Navi Mumbai.
The new parking rules, which will remain in effect until further notice, will not apply to vehicles carrying essential goods, police vehicles, fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, and government vehicles.
The public is urged to comply with the new parking regulations to ensure smoother traffic conditions and uninterrupted access for emergency services.
