Mumbai is all set to unveil its first-ever Elevated Nature Trail at Malabar Hill on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The trail, inspired by Singapore’s ‘Tree Top Walk,’ will provide citizens and tourists with a tree walk experience at Kamala Nehru Park and Ferozeshah Mehta Garden, along with stunning views of the Arabian Sea near Girgaon Chowpatty.
The inauguration ceremony will be led by Skill Development Minister and Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, in the presence of senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, including Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Commissioners Ashwini Joshi and Abhijit Bangar.
A Sustainable Green Initiative
Developed under BMC’s D Ward, the 485-meter-long and 2.4-meter-wide trail aims to promote eco-tourism and provide Mumbaikars with an elevated nature-walking experience. The wooden walkway, supported by steel reinforcements and pile foundations, ensures durability, while a Sea Viewing Deck offers breathtaking ocean views.
For safety and convenience, the trail features an access control system, surveillance monitoring, and emergency exit routes. Aesthetic lighting enhances its appeal, making it an attractive destination even in the evening.
A Biodiversity Haven in the Heart of Mumbai
The trail showcases over 100 plant species, including Gulmohar, Almond, Jamun, Palm, Jackfruit, and Arjuna trees. Visitors can spot Koels, Indian Rollers, Hornbills, Kingfishers, and Sunbirds, as well as monitor lizards, pythons, and vine snakes.
Public Encouraged to Visit
Following the inauguration, the BMC administration has invited citizens to visit this new green escape in the heart of Mumbai. The Elevated Nature Trail is set to become a tranquil retreat for nature lovers and a must-visit destination for eco-tourists exploring the city’s rich biodiversity.
