Cama Hospital Brings New Hope to Childless Couples: 12 Women Successfully Conceive

Date:

For childless couples, infertility can be a significant emotional struggle, often accompanied by societal and family pressures. The cost of infertility treatments further limits access for economically weaker couples. To support such couples, the state-run Cama & Albless Hospital has launched an IVF center, where 12 women have successfully conceived through infertility treatment.

Since the launch of the center, 422 patients have registered for treatment, with 100 women currently undergoing infertility therapy. Every day, 20 to 30 women visit Cama Hospital for pregnancy-related issues. To address these concerns, the hospital established an Assisted Reproductive Technology (IVF) Center on March 6, 2024.

First-Stage Infertility Treatment Approved

Dr. Tushar Palve, the Superintendent of Cama Hospital, stated that the hospital has received approval for first-stage infertility treatments, which include Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and ovulation induction. Approval for second-stage IVF procedures is expected soon. So far, 80 women have registered for IVF treatment, which is likely to commence next month. Meanwhile, 12 women have benefited from the first-stage treatments.

What is IUI?

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is an infertility treatment in which sperm is directly placed into a woman’s uterus. In natural conception, sperm travels through the cervix into the vagina and then moves to the uterus with the help of fallopian tubes. However, when this process does not occur naturally, IUI helps by placing sperm closer to the egg inside the uterus, increasing the chances of conception.

How Does It Works?

Dr. Tushar Palve explained that the process begins 2-3 days after the menstrual cycle, where women receive medications or injections for 5 to 10 days. Regular monitoring is done every 3-4 days via sonography. Once the follicles reach the desired size, an HCG injection is given to trigger ovulation, and the IUI procedure is performed within 36 hours.

With the hospital’s growing focus on infertility treatments, this initiative is expected to bring hope to many more couples struggling to conceive.
