Mumbai: Following reports of misbehavior with women journalists during the Maratha reservation agitation at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, actress Sumona Chakravarti has made a shocking revelation.
Television actress took to Instagram to describe a disturbing incident. She alleged her car was blocked by protesters in South Mumbai on Sunday afternoon.

“While driving from Colaba to Fort around 12:30 pm, a crowd stopped my car. A man wearing a saffron scarf banged on my bonnet, pressed his belly against it, laughed mockingly, and danced in front of me. His companions came close to my windows, shouting ‘Jai Maharashtra’ slogans and laughing loudly. This happened twice within five minutes. Shockingly, there were no police—those present were just sitting and chatting. In broad daylight, in South Mumbai, I felt unsafe inside my own car,” her post read.
Her post has raised fresh concerns about law and order in the city as protests continue to escalate. While demonstrators push for immediate government action on reservation, commuters and citizens report mounting difficulties due to the agitation.
For the past four days, thousands of men and women have been camping at Azad Maidan. Protesters marched from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to the ground, raising slogans with saffron scarves and caps, dancing to the beats of sana surai and halgi drums. At CSMT, the protest took on a cultural tone as demonstrators were seen playing traditional games like Kho-Kho and Vitti Dandu, drawing large crowds amid the sloganeering.
