Navi Mumbai: Continuing its outstanding tradition, the Education, Training & Service Centre (ETC) for Persons with Disabilities under the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has once again secured a 100% pass rate in the 10th standard board exams for the academic year 2024-25. Special students from diverse categories—hearing impaired, visually impaired, learning disabled, intellectually challenged, and those with multiple disabilities—have demonstrated exemplary academic performance, proving that disability is no barrier to success.

This year, a total of 19 special students appeared for the exams. Among them, Kalyani Awate from the intellectually disabled category topped with an impressive 85%. Fourteen students from this category passed with flying colors. Notably, students Vinayak Patil and Riya Shinde received additional support through dedicated parental guidance programs offered by the ETC.

In the hearing-impaired category, Maria Naglekar scored 77.60%, while Nishad Dave excelled in the learning disability category. Suraj Bhosale, from the visually impaired section, maintained regular attendance at the ETC, and Shravan Bore achieved success with the help of parental guidance. Soham Patil was among the successful candidates in the multiple disabilities category.

The students studied in both English and Marathi mediums and actively participated in extracurricular activities alongside their academics.

Dr. Kailas Shinde, Municipal Commissioner, praised the students’ achievements and congratulated the teachers and therapists whose dedication contributed significantly to this success. Sangratna Khilare, Director of the ETC and Deputy Commissioner, expressed satisfaction and encouraged the students to continue on their path of academic excellence and independence. The center’s mental health experts played a vital role in motivating the students and providing counseling support to their families.

This inspiring success story underscores the commitment and inclusive approach of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation in empowering differently-abled students through education, training, and holistic support.
