Vandan Patel, a first-grade student at Savannah Country Day School in the United States, has been inducted into Mensa International—one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious high IQ societies. Entry into Mensa is reserved for individuals who score in the top 2 percent on recognized intelligence tests.
Vandan’s intellectual abilities have distinguished him from an early age. He comprehends subjects well beyond his grade level and displays a deep curiosity in areas like astronomy, scriptures, and foreign languages. With a strong interest in space exploration, Vandan dreams of becoming a NASA astronaut someday.
His achievement has brought pride not only to his school and family but also to the entire Indian-American community. His mother, Reema Patel, describes Vandan as “fun-loving, affectionate, intelligent, and mischievous.” While he excels in academics, he also enjoys outdoor play, watching cartoons, traveling, and video games.
The American Mensa organization, which has recently seen a growing number of young members, offers several programs for gifted children—such as the Mensa Honor Society, scholarship opportunities, and reading programs. These initiatives aim to provide guidance and opportunities for young talents to reach their full potential.
