Navi Mumbai: In a major achievement, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has secured the third rank among municipal corporations in Maharashtra under the Chief Minister’s “100 Days of Administrative Reforms” special campaign. The campaign aimed to improve public service delivery, office management, and citizen convenience. The final evaluation was conducted by the Quality Council of India, an accredited third-party body, among six municipal corporations selected for the last round.

Under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, NMMC made significant progress across various parameters such as website improvement, citizen grievance redressal, technology adoption, and office cleanliness. The corporation revamped its website, making it more user-friendly, accessible to persons with disabilities, and equipped it with an AI-powered chatbot.

To ensure hassle-free services, all 68 notified public services were made available online. An additional 41 services were also introduced, with 37 going digital. Citizens can now access many civic services from the comfort of their homes with just a click.

The corporation undertook massive office clean-ups, disposing of 2,766 old items and initiating the scrapping of 106 unused vehicles. Over 302,000 records were classified, and more than 50,000 outdated records were destroyed. Waiting areas were renovated with better seating and library facilities, while clean drinking water, gender-specific toilets, and a dedicated women’s room were added to municipal offices.

A strong focus was placed on grievance redressal with the launch of the My NMMC portal and app alongside state and national complaint portals. The corporation also adopted the e-Office system to speed up and bring transparency to internal processes.

NMMC demonstrated innovation in waste management through its RFID-based system and Integrated Command Control Center, improving waste segregation and collection tracking. A pioneering textile recycling project was launched to convert discarded clothes into reusable products — the first such initiative in India, praised by the Prime Minister.

Dr. Shinde congratulated the entire team, calling the recognition a moment of pride for Navi Mumbai and reaffirmed NMMC’s commitment to delivering efficient, dynamic, and citizen-friendly governance.
