Helpline Number 1930 Crosses One Lakh Complaints in Mumbai; Rs 241 Crore Saved from Cyber Fraud

In Mumbai’s ongoing battle against cybercrime, helpline number 1930 has emerged as a powerful tool over the past three years. This week, the number of complaints received through the helpline crossed one lakh, and the Mumbai Police has successfully prevented financial frauds amounting to Rs 241 crore, officials said.

A senior officer stated that the cyber cell operates round the clock to protect citizens from falling prey to online scams. As cases of financial fraud and cybercrime continue to rise, the Mumbai Police is leveraging advanced technologies and tools to track down those involved in such activities.

“We also have a strong team that coordinates with banks, financial institutions, the Reserve Bank of India, and law enforcement agencies across different states to tackle cybercrime,” the official added. “We receive nearly 1,500 complaints daily on the 1930 helpline.

Cyber Police Deputy Commissioner Dattatray Nalawade shared that, “As of Saturday, the number of complaints stood at 1,01,069. Due to timely intervention, a total of Rs 241,42,11,827 has been saved from being lost to fraud.”
