Navi Mumbai: The Education Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has assured that students from grades one to eight in municipal schools will receive free textbooks on the first day of the 2025-26 academic year. In addition to textbooks, the civic body also provides free uniforms to all students enrolled in its schools.
According to an official from the Education Department, the initiative, implemented under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, aims to ensure that no student is deprived of essential learning resources. By distributing textbooks at the start of the academic session, NMMC seeks to curb dropout rates and improve learning outcomes.
“We have consistently ensured the timely distribution of textbooks to students in municipal primary schools. This annual initiative guarantees that students can begin their studies without delay, reinforcing the government’s commitment to quality education,” said the official.
The program is expected to benefit thousands of students, including those in aided schools, marking a significant step toward educational equity in Navi Mumbai.
