Thane, August 6: The Khadakpada Police in Thane have arrested a habitual bike theft accused within 24 hours of registering a case and recovered nine stolen motorcycles collectively worth ₹6.35 lakh.
According to the police, on August 4, 2026, a complaint was received regarding the theft of a Honda CB Shine motorcycle (Registration No. MH05BX1296) worth approximately ₹40,000 from near the Municipal Corporation dumping ground on 90 Feet Road, Gandhari, Kalyan (West). Based on the complaint, Khadakpada Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Using CCTV footage, technical analysis, and information gathered from confidential informers, the police identified and apprehended the accused, Abbas Shahajore Syed (25), a resident of Bholenagar, Atali Road, Ambivli, Kalyan. He was arrested by officers from the Crime Detection Branch while on patrol, and the stolen Honda motorcycle was recovered from his possession.
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to several motorcycle thefts. Police subsequently recovered nine stolen motorcycles worth ₹6.35 lakh, helping solve eight vehicle theft cases registered at Khadakpada Police Station, Kalyan Police Station, Thane City Police, and Mumbra Police Station.
Investigations further revealed that the accused is also wanted in three house-breaking and theft cases registered at Kapurbawdi and Badlapur Police Stations.
The accused was produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody until August 7, 2026. Further investigation is underway.
