Integrated with Thane Doorstep Delivery Portal, the Digital Platform Brings Government Services and Information to Citizens’ Fingertips
The newly launched digital platform enables users to access information on government services, application processes, required documents, application status, grievance registration, and departmental contact details without visiting government offices. The initiative is expected to reduce the need for repeated office visits, saving citizens valuable time, effort, and costs while improving administrative transparency and efficiency.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer (General Administration) Avinash Fadtare said that the chatbot has been developed in both Marathi and English to ensure ease of use for all citizens. Through the platform, users can obtain details of various government services and schemes, application procedures, document requirements, application tracking, and other essential guidance within minutes.
Chief Executive Officer Ranjit Yadav described the initiative as a major milestone in citizen-focused governance. “The WhatsApp Chatbot launched by Thane Zilla Parishad reflects our commitment to leveraging technology to deliver government services in a faster, more transparent, and accessible manner. Integrated with the Thane Doorstep Delivery Portal, the service will save citizens time, effort, and expenses while helping extend the benefits of government schemes to a larger population. The Thane Doorstep Delivery Portal is an innovative citizen-centric digital platform developed by the Thane Zilla Parishad to provide rural residents with government services from the comfort of their homes. The portal offers information related to birth certificates, income certificates, various certificates and licences, official records, and numerous services offered by the Zilla Parishad and the Rural Development Department. With the chatbot fully integrated into the portal, citizens can now easily search for services, access relevant information, and understand application procedures through WhatsApp.
The chatbot also provides details of services notified under the Right to Service (RTS) Act, including required documents, prescribed service delivery timelines, and real-time application status updates. It is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones.
In addition, citizens can register suggestions, feedback, and grievances directly through the chatbot. The platform has been integrated with the State Government’s Centralised WhatsApp Helpline/Chief Minister’s Helpline System, enabling complaints to be automatically forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt action, faster grievance redressal, and improved transparency in service delivery.
Thane Zilla Parishad has already established its digital presence on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and Public App. The addition of the WhatsApp Chatbot further strengthens its digital governance ecosystem, enabling citizens to receive official information on government schemes, development projects, awareness campaigns, press releases, tenders, important notifications, and departmental services directly on their mobile phones.
The Thane Zilla Parishad has appealed to citizens to save +91 89991 54140 in their mobile contacts and send “Hi” or “Namaskar” on WhatsApp to activate the chatbot and take advantage of the wide range of digital government services available through the platform.
