32 Employees Resign from Panvel Municipal Corporation Jobs, Fresh Recruitment Likely

Date:

Panvel: In a surprising turn of events, 32 newly recruited employees of the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) have resigned from their positions, opting for opportunities elsewhere. This development has left only 243 out of the 377 appointed employees currently working in the civic body.

The recruitment process was conducted by the state government through Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in December 2023. Written exams were held across 57 centers in 21 districts for 377 posts spanning 41 categories, from fourth-grade staff to first-class officers. Over 50,000 candidates appeared for the exam, and selections were made purely based on merit. Following document verification, character checks, and physical tests, appointment letters were issued. However, 32 employees have now chosen to leave their jobs. Most of the resigned employees were clerical staff.

Despite the setback, the PMC successfully inducted 243 employees, ensuring key positions were filled. However, a senior civic official confirmed that a fresh recruitment process would be necessary to fill the remaining vacancies.

With multiple resignations within months of recruitment, concerns are being raised about job stability and career progression within the municipal corporation. The PMC is expected to take corrective measures to retain talent and address the vacancies soon.
