Why Thane-Belapur Road Is Closed This Week and How to Plan Your Route, Know Here

Date:

Navi Mumbai: Commuters using the Thane-Belapur Road will face traffic restrictions this week as the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation undertakes concrete road construction in front of IKEA. Officials announced that the stretch between Savita Chemicals and Turbhe Railway Station will remain closed to all vehicular traffic from 9 PM on May 7 until midnight on May 14.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Tirupati Kakade, issued an official notification ordering the temporary closure to prevent traffic congestion and inconvenience to citizens during the construction period.

To ease traffic flow, authorities have advised motorists to use the following alternate routes:
Alternate Route 1: Light vehicles can proceed from the Fire Brigade Signal at Mahape, cross the bridge, and pass via Sector 26 APMC Palm Beach Road to reach their destination.
Alternate Route 2: Heavy vehicles must turn left at the Fire Brigade Signal, Mahape, and travel via Turbhe MIDC.
Alternate Route 3: Heavy vehicles can also take a left turn under the Savita Chemical bridge and continue via Turbhe MIDC.

Motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and follow traffic advisories to avoid delays. The road closure aims to facilitate the smooth execution of the project and improve road conditions for long-term commuter benefits.

Authorities have appealed for public cooperation during this period. For updates, follow the official Navi Mumbai Traffic Department channels.
