When Does Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Complete Pre-Monsoon Works, Know Here

Date:

Navi Mumbai: With the monsoon fast approaching, Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has directed all civic departments to accelerate pre-monsoon works such as drain and gutter cleaning, tree trimming, and road repairs, ensuring they are completed within the scheduled deadlines. He emphasized the need for strict vigilance during the rainy season and ordered all control rooms to remain fully operational.

At a recent review meeting, attended by Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, Deputy Commissioner Sharad Pawar, City Engineer Shirish Aradwad, and other key officials, Dr. Shinde stressed regular site visits by officers to monitor the progress of ongoing works. He specifically instructed that the silt removed from drains should be cleared promptly once dried, to prevent any waterlogging.

The Commissioner highlighted the importance of quick execution of repair and maintenance works by appointed agencies, especially across roads, water supply lines, sewage systems, and gardens. He also called for the implementation of a robust feedback system to monitor the quality of work.

Special attention was drawn to trimming dangerous or obstructive trees and ensuring streetlights remain in working condition. Dr. Shinde ordered the inspection of hazardous buildings, particularly those categorized as C-1, to ensure the safety of residents. He further instructed that a public list of such buildings be published and that hutments blocking water flow or located in landslide-prone areas be relocated.

Congratulating the municipal staff for securing third place in Maharashtra under the Chief Minister’s 100-Day Office Reforms Campaign, Dr. Shinde urged the team to improve further under the ten-point action plan, with a focus on adopting advanced technology. He also directed that municipal staff participate online in the state government’s ‘Tech-Wari’ technology training programs.

With the e-office system now in place, all departments have been asked to work toward 100% implementation. Dr. Shinde stressed coordination with other authorities to ensure the timely completion of monsoon-related works across the city. The solid waste management department was also instructed to increase public awareness campaigns on waste segregation, plastic bans, and cleanliness, promoting greater citizen participation.
