Vashi: In an important step towards strengthening student safety, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), Vashi, convened a review meeting with heads of 149 schools, colleges, and educational institutions under his jurisdiction. The meeting was PM at the Marathi Sahitya Sanskruti and Kala Mandal Hall, Sector 6, Vashi.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to assess the implementation of government-mandated safety measures for students and to discuss the need for third-party safety audits in educational campuses. These measures are part of the directives issued by the Government of Maharashtra to ensure the well-being of students and prevent incidents of sexual harassment.
During the session, the DCP conducted a detailed review of existing safety practices adopted by the institutions. He emphasized the importance of coordination between school management committees and local police stations. The institutions were instructed to strictly follow government guidelines and carry out third-party audits. The findings of these audits must be communicated to the local police stations, he added.
The meeting witnessed active participation from Assistant Commissioners of Police from Turbhe and Vashi divisions, along with officers in charge of the 10 police stations under Zone 1. The large turnout of educational administrators reflected the seriousness of the initiative and the shared commitment to creating a safe learning environment for students across Navi Mumbai.
