The Harmony Foundation, in collaboration with NGO Exodus India, led by Mr. Shyam Kamble in a joint operation with Thane Crime Branch led by Inspector Chetna Choudary under the supervision of DCP Mr. Amarsingh Jadhav successfully rescued seven girls yesterday from a spa-cum-brothel known as Amara Spa in Thane. Out of which two girls are suspected to be minors and the main accused Hashmi is absconding.
Dr Abraham Mathai, Founder Chairman of the Harmony Foundation said, “this operation succeeded because of the unflinching support received from Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare. Speaking on the issue, he remarked, “It’s high time that civil society awakens and comes forward to rescue these innocent young girls.” He also underscored the severe psychological trauma endured by victims, noting that such experiences can leave lifelong scars.
Dr Mathai, also a former Vice-Chairman of the State Minorities Commission emphasized the urgent need for stricter laws, more effective enforcement, and widespread awareness to curb such crimes. He highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in society to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure justice against traffickers. He described human trafficking as a heinous crime that can shatter lives and futures.
