Residents Raise Alarm Over Illegal Dumping in CBD Sector 8 Lake, Demand Urgent Action

Date:

A disturbing case of environmental neglect has emerged in CBD Sector 8, Navi Mumbai, where unknown individuals are illegally dumping large quantities of construction debris into the catchment and conservation zone of a natural lake. This reckless activity is not only defacing the lake’s natural beauty but also endangering the region’s delicate ecological balance.

Residents report that for the past several days, unidentified vehicles have been delivering truckloads of construction waste to the area—both during the day and late at night. The unchecked dumping is reducing the lake’s natural water retention capacity, affecting the surrounding land, vegetation, and local wildlife.

Alarmed by the escalating damage, environmentalists and concerned citizens have submitted formal complaints to the Commissioner of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the Assistant Commissioner of Belapur ward. Their letters call for immediate and strict action against the perpetrators. According to the complaints, the debris is degrading water quality, polluting the land, and posing a serious threat to local biodiversity.

In addition to demanding a crackdown on the illegal dumping, citizens are urging authorities to implement preventive measures to ensure the long-term protection of this vital natural resource. They have also called on the local police to register a criminal case.
