Panvel: Under the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), 237 beneficiaries in Panvel received approval letters and the first installment for house construction. The distribution event was held simultaneously with the main function at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, which was graced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Across Maharashtra, 20 lakh beneficiaries received approval letters, while 10 lakh beneficiaries were granted the first installment to begin construction of their homes. The program in Panvel was conducted online at the Panvel Panchayat Samiti office, where the approval letters were symbolically distributed in the presence of MLA Prashant Thakur.
Bridging the Housing Gap
Food, clothing, and shelter are fundamental human needs. However, even 75 years after independence, many families in India continue to struggle for adequate housing. While millions live in rented homes, countless others are forced to reside in public spaces without shelter. To bridge this gap, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) with the vision of providing affordable housing to economically weaker sections. Over the past decade, a significant number of houses have been constructed and allocated to those in need.
Massive Distribution Drive Across the State
On Saturday, the government took another major step by distributing approval letters to 20 lakh beneficiaries, of which 10 lakh received the first installment for construction. The Balewadi event, attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, was mirrored at various taluka and village levels where local officials handed over the documents and funds to beneficiaries.
Panvel’s Role in the Initiative
In Panvel, the event took place at the conference hall of the Panvel Taluka Panchayat Samiti, with MLA Prashant Thakur presiding over the proceedings. With the government’s ongoing efforts under PMAY, the initiative continues to fulfill the dream of “Housing for All,” bringing secure and permanent homes to families in need.
