No More Pressure: WR Introduces Waterless Toilets to Ease Loco Pilots’ Woes

Date:

Loco pilots face numerous challenges while operating trains, one of which is managing nature’s call during duty hours. To address this issue, Western Railway has introduced waterless toilets on a trial basis in six out of its 821 locomotive engines. If the experiment proves successful, the facility will be extended to another 80 engines.

Loco pilots and their assistants have to operate trains for long hours without access to toilet facilities. They often struggle, especially during nighttime and in remote areas, as stopping for toilet breaks is not a feasible option. To resolve this problem, Western Railway has installed waterless toilets in selected locomotives. Railway officials have confirmed that approval has been granted to install these toilets in 460 locomotives.
