Date:

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has announced a ₹534 crore budget for the upcoming financial year, with plans to enhance its fleet and boost revenue. Transport Manager Yogesh Kaduskar stated that 100 new buses, including 50 CNG and 50 electric buses under the NCAP initiative, will be added within the next year.

Since its inception in 1996 with just 25 buses, NMMT has expanded significantly, now operating 553 buses across 73 routes covering Mumbai, Thane, Panvel, and Khalapur. Currently, 493 buses are in active service. The newly developed bus terminal in Vashi is expected to generate ₹32 crore in revenue, while passenger fares are projected to bring in ₹25.66 crore from municipal buses and ₹99 crore from GCC-based services.

To strengthen public transport, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has allocated ₹270 crore in financial support. With a focus on expanding services, increasing revenue, and improving the commuter experience, NMMT aims to enhance urban mobility in the coming year.
