NMMC Ramps Up Action Against Illegal Constructions in Airoli

Date:

Airoli: Acting on repeated non-compliance, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out a demolition drive against unauthorized construction in Airoli today. The action was executed under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and the supervision of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Bhagwat Doiphode.

Despite prior notice, the unauthorized structure located at Sector 03, Airoli, constructed by Anil Popat Patil without obtaining any permissions from NMM, was not removed by the concerned party. Under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, the Airoli Ward Office had issued a formal notice demanding the voluntary removal of the illegal construction. However, due to non-compliance, the Encroachment Department proceeded with partial demolition on Friday.

The drive was led by Assistant Municipal Commissioner and Ward Officer of Airoli, Sunil Kathole, along with Junior Engineer Sandeep Mhatre, other ward officials, and personnel from the encroachment police unit. The operation utilized one gas cutter, two hammers, and eight laborers to carry out the demolition.

NMMC officials have stated that similar actions against unauthorized constructions will continue with increased intensity in the future to ensure strict compliance with municipal regulations.
