Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Launches Drive Against Abandoned Vehicles and Unauthorized Hawkers

Date:

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has launched a crackdown on abandoned vehicles and unauthorized hawkers to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian movement.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has directed officials to take strict action against vehicles left unattended on roads, obstructing traffic, and causing cleanliness issues. Under Sections 230 and 231 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, 1949, notices will be issued to vehicle owners, urging them to remove their vehicles voluntarily. Public announcements will also be made to spread awareness. If vehicles remain abandoned after the notice period, they will be seized and towed to designated disposal sites.

Alongside this, the NMMC is intensifying its campaign against unauthorized hawkers who have encroached upon footpaths and roadsides. Strict measures will be taken to remove such encroachments to maintain Navi Mumbai’s planned urban structure.

Dr. Shinde has appealed to citizens to cooperate in keeping the city clean and well-organized.
