Navi Mumbai– The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) conducted a major demolition drive in the Koparkhairane ward against unauthorised constructions after property owners failed to comply with issued notices.
As part of the action, structures belonging to Satyajit Tukaram Dhumal, Ganesh R. Shinde, and Ranjana Ganesh Shinde at S.S. Type, Room No. 1, Sector 15, Koparkhairane, was demolished. The property was earlier served a notice under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. Similarly, partial demolition of an unauthorized third-floor structure was carried out at the residence of Shalik Hallaya Naik in Sector 12D, Ramnagar, Bonkode, Koparkhairane.
Additionally, an illegally constructed platform behind a Divyang Stall in Sector 18, Koparkhairane, was removed.
The demolition drive was executed by the encroachment department, with Assistant Commissioner Vasant Mundavare and Junior Engineer Chandrakant Dhotre overseeing the operation. The action was supported by a team of nine laborers, two electronic hammers, one gas cutter, and a pickup van.
The NMMC has reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-encroachment operations in the future, warning property owners against unauthorised constructions.
The operation was carried out under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, with the guidance of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Bhagwat Doiphode.
