Mohfw – Doctor: Patient ratio improved to 1: 834

The Ministry of health and family welfare (Mohfw) said that due to multiple steps taken by the Central Government the availability of doctors in the country has increased further which in turn has improved the doctor patient ratio to 1: 834 which is better than the WHO standard of 1: 1000. As per the information provided by the National Medical Councils (NMC) the total number of registered allopathic doctors in the country stands at 13,08,009 with an addition of approximately 5,65,000 AYUSH doctors. The Mohfw said that the number of UG seats have been increased from 51,348 in 2014 to 91,927 seats and the number of PG seats have been increased from 31,185 in 2014 to 60202 seats.
