Mumbai: Senior journalist Kumar Mahadev Vyas was unanimously elected president of the Rajasthan Press Club, Mumbai, during the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Hotel Adarsh Palace on Friday.
The elections were conducted following the completion of the tenure of the outgoing executive committee under the supervision of Rajasthan Information Centre In-charge and Assistant Director Ritu Sodhi and the club’s founder and returning officer Jagdish Purohit.

Besides Vyas, Vyas Kumar Rawal was elected working president, Lalit Shakti as secretary, Ramesh Kabra as treasurer, and Harish Rajawat as joint secretary. Rahul Parik, Jitendra Singh Rathore, Suresh Bhansali, Jyoti Munot, Manish Paliwal, Dr Prakash Soni and Vidya Uttam Shah were unanimously elected as members of the executive committee.
Addressing the AGM, outgoing president Kanhaiyalal Khandelwal highlighted the vision behind the establishment of the Rajasthan Press Club and its objectives. Secretary Vyas Kumar Rawal presented a report on the activities undertaken during the committee’s three-year tenure, while treasurer Dineshwar Mali presented the annual financial statement, which was unanimously approved by the members.
Former president Neeraj Dave said that the cordial relationship and positive spirit among Rajasthan-origin journalists in Mumbai reflected social harmony within the community. Senior media expert Niranjan Parihar spoke about the role, policies and functioning of journalists’ organisations.
Rajasthan Information Centre Assistant Commissioner Ritu Sodhi appealed to journalists to help disseminate information about the Rajasthan government’s development initiatives among the state’s migrant community living in Mumbai.
Returning officer Jagdish Purohit formally announced the results of the elections. In his acceptance speech, newly elected president Kumar Mahadev Vyas expressed confidence that, with the support of all members, the Rajasthan Press Club would continue to grow and strengthen its activities.
The meeting also paid tribute to late Raj Purohit, a prominent leader of the Rajasthani community in Mumbai. Members observed a two-minute silence in his memory and acknowledged his significant contribution to the migrant community. The AGM commenced with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra.
