Kalyan–Shilphata Road to Face Night Traffic Diversion for Metro Girder Work

Date:

Metro construction to cause 20-day night traffic changes, effecting from 11:45 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily.

Thane: Traffic congestion on Thane district’s busiest Kalyan–Shilphata Road is likely to worsen in the coming days, as the traffic department has announced changes in vehicle movement for the next 20 days. The diversion will be in effect from 11:45 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily to facilitate the installation of girders on metro line pillars.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat, the Kalyan–Taloja Metro line work along Kalyan–Shil Road has already completed the erection of concrete support pillars. The next phase involves placing beams (girders) on these pillars. The night-time schedule has been chosen to avoid major disruptions, as vehicle movement is relatively low during these hours.
