Indian Railways Introduces Special Trains on Mumbai-Bihar Route to Manage Festive Rush

Date:

In a move aimed at managing the heavy passenger influx during the festive season, Indian Railways has introduced new special train services on the Mumbai-Bihar route. The decision comes ahead of major celebrations like Diwali and Chhath Puja, which typically see a surge in travelers. Among the new services is the LTT Mumbai-Raxaul Superfast Special, which will operate weekly to ease the load on existing trains.

The first LTT Mumbai-Raxaul Superfast Special began its journey on October 6, 2023, and will continue to run until February 2, 2025. These special trains are expected to significantly reduce the excessive passenger rush on the popular Mumbai-Bihar corridor.

Additionally, the Raxaul-Mumbai LTT special service commenced on October 4, 2023, and will be available until January 31, 2025, as per a statement by the Central Railway. A total of 36 special train services (05585/05586) have been scheduled for this route, with 18 trips planned by January next year.

The LTT Mumbai-Raxaul train will depart every Sunday at 4 PM, reaching Raxaul in Bihar by 7:45 AM on the third day, Tuesday. The major stops along the route include Kalyan, Nasik, Bhusaval, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Prayagraj Cheoki, Danapur, Patliputra, Muzaffarpur, and other key stations.

The train comprises 22 LHB coaches, including thirteen sleeper class coaches and eight general class coaches, ensuring ample seating for passengers. These services aim to accommodate the increasing demand during the festive period, providing an additional travel option for those journeying to Bihar.

In a related development, Indian Railways has also announced the continuation of special train services between Dadar and Bhusaval to further manage the holiday season rush.
