In line with the Maharashtra Government’s 100-day action plan, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) Undertaking has implemented the E-Office and Leave Management System (LMS) to streamline administrative operations. This move follows directives issued under the General Administration Department’s resolution dated January 13, 2025, aimed at enhancing efficiency in government and semi-government offices.
A senior NMMT official stated that the E-Office system has been introduced to ensure smoother workflows, document security, and faster decision-making. “A circular was issued on January 13, 2025, instructing all official operations within the transport undertaking to be conducted through E-Office. Between January and March 2025, 791 files have already been processed under this system, marking a significant transition towards digital governance,” the official said.
According to the official, the implementation of E-Office has resulted in greater speed and efficiency, significantly reducing manual paperwork and saving time. It has also increased transparency in administrative activities. “By digitally storing documents, record-keeping has become more organized, and expenses on paper and stationery have reduced. The system also enhances security through password protection and other safety features while making document retrieval more convenient,” he added.
A key advantage of this system is that officials and employees can now access and manage files remotely, allowing round-the-clock productivity and expediting task completion. The NMMT administration has emphasized that the transition to E-Office has significantly improved transparency and efficiency, ensuring faster work resolution.
