In a chilling case that has sent shockwaves through Mumbai, the police have arrested Mohammad Sattar for allegedly murdering and dismembering his friend whose body parts were discovered in plastic bags near Gorai Beach.
Four bags filled with dismembered body parts were found by authorities on Sunday after a passerby reported a strong odor near the beach road. The grisly discovery included a bucket containing severed hands and a head in an advanced state of decomposition.
Police traced the incident to a personal dispute between the two men who were originally from Bihar. According to investigators, the victim was in a relationship with Sattar’s sister, a relationship the accused vehemently opposed. Despite warnings, the victim continued the relationship leading Sattar to allegedly plan and execute his murder.
The crime took place at Sattar’s residence in Bhayandar where he reportedly invited the victim over for drinks. Following an altercation, Sattar allegedly killed him by slitting his throat. He then dismembered the body into seven parts which he distributed across four paint buckets before disposing of them near Gorai Beach.
This case has prompted a heightened police investigation. “Multiple teams worked to identify the victim and apprehend the suspect,” a police official stated.
Evidence gathered included the victim’s distinct tattooed initials “RA” and his clothing were helping authorities in their identification process.
Mohammad Sattar now faces charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, including murder with further investigation underway.
