Panvel: To ensure citizens receive timely guidance and remain safe during emergencies, the Fire Department of Panvel Municipal Corporation conducted a mock drill at the civic body’s headquarters today.
At precisely 4 PM, the drill commenced with the sound of a siren, as a fire engine arrived at the municipal entrance. Announcements were made simulating a fire emergency in the building, and instructions were given to evacuate immediately. Following protocol, the entire building was successfully evacuated.
After the evacuation, officials from the Fire Department provided detailed instructions to the assembled staff and officers on do’s and don’ts during disasters. A live demonstration was also held on the correct usage of a small fire extinguisher, commonly referred to as a “bottle.”
Present at the event were Additional Commissioner Ganesh Shete, Transport Manager Kailas Gawde, Dr. Vaibhav Vidhate, Swaroop Kharge, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Mangesh Gawde, Accounts Officer Sangram Vhorkate, City Engineer Sanjay Katekar, Dr. Bhagwan Gite, Dr. Madhulika Lad, along with other officers and employees of the corporation.
The initiative was lauded as a proactive step towards strengthening disaster preparedness and safety awareness among municipal staff.
