Fake Water Bill Message Circulates in Navi Mumbai; NMMC Issues Warning

Date:

Navi Mumbai: A misleading message regarding water bill payments is being circulated on WhatsApp, falsely claiming to be from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). The message instructs citizens to contact the mobile number 09834225768, warning that failure will result in water supply disconnection.

The NMMC has issued an official clarification stating that the message is fake and that the phone number mentioned does not belong to any NMMC official or employee. The civic body has urged residents to avoid responding to such fraudulent messages.

In an appeal to citizens, NMMC has advised that water bills should be paid only through official channels, including the NMMC department offices, authorized water bill payment centers, and the official NMMC website www.nmmc.gov.in. Online payments can also be made via the QR codes printed on water bills.

NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has urged residents to remain vigilant and not fall for such scams. The civic body has also advised people to verify any such messages through official sources before taking action. For official inquiries, residents are encouraged to visit the NMMC website or contact their local municipal office.
