The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has taken strict action against the unauthorized dumping of construction debris on lands that have either been acquired or are currently under acquisition by the corporation. CIDCO officials have observed that large quantities of debris are being illegally dumped by dumper drivers. This debris has been found to pose serious health hazards and is harmful to the environment.
To curb this illegal activity, a special operation was conducted on April 9, 2025, under the leadership of the Chief Vigilance Officer of CIDCO. The operation involved officials from the vigilance inspection team, the security department, the engineering department, and the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police. Around 5:00 p.m. near the Vashi Overbridge, at the Vashi Traffic Division, three dumpers carrying foul-smelling and hazardous debris were intercepted.
The drivers of the vehicles were identified as Sufiyan Shamsher, 32, a native of Bhagalpur, Bihar, currently residing near Papadipada RF Camp, Taloja, Navi Mumbai; Mohammad Firdos Mohammad Ismail, 32, a native Kahalgaon in District Bhagalpur, Bihar, also currently residing near Papadipada RF Camp, Taloja, Navi Mumbai; and Mubarak Ali Musibal Ali Bagwan, 33, originally from Uttar Pradesh and currently residing in Govandi, Mumbai. These dumper drivers were caught while attempting to dump debris brought from Mumbai in the Navi Mumbai International Airport area and the Ulwe-Jasai CIDCO zone.
Following the incident, a case was registered at the Vashi Police Station. CIDCO has issued a public appeal urging citizens to report any instances of unauthorized debris dumping in CIDCO areas. Reports can be made through the official CIDCO website at www.cidco.maharashtra.gov.in or by contacting the relevant police station.
