Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has ramped up its action against the illegal transportation and dumping of construction debris in Navi Mumbai. The vigilance team of CIDCO has been seizing dumpers carrying debris without permits, particularly those entering the city via the Atal Setu route from Mumbai.
Over the past three months, CIDCO has confiscated nearly 50 dumpers and registered more than 15 cases at various police stations. The illegal dumping issue has been particularly rampant in areas like Ulwe and Panvel, where Mumbai-based debris mafias have been actively operating.
To combat this menace, special flying squads comprising officials from multiple departments have been deployed. These teams have been conducting surprise raids and seizing dumpers engaged in illegal activities. As a result, panic has spread among the debris mafia.
CIDCO to Intensify Action
Despite ongoing efforts, illegal dumping continues. In response, CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer, Suresh Mengde, has announced plans to further intensify the crackdown in the coming days.
So far, over 90 dumpers have been seized in the past year, signaling CIDCO’s firm stance against unauthorized debris dumping. Investigations are ongoing, and more offenders are likely to face legal action soon.
