In a decisive move against illegal construction, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) demolished an unauthorized ground-plus-one-story RCC building in Ghansoli earlier this week. Despite repeated warnings to halt construction, the developers continued their work, prompting CIDCO’s Anti-Encroachment Department to take action.
The illegal structure, covering 108 square meters, was located in Sector 17, Ghansoli, on Survey Number 47. Days before the demolition, CIDCO had issued a notice under Section 54(1) of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning (MRTP) Act, instructing the developers to cease construction. However, the directive was ignored, leading to enforcement measures.
On February 13, under the supervision of Chief Controller Dr. Jagannath Veerkar and Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde, CIDCO’s Anti-Encroachment Department carried out the demolition. Three Poclain machines were deployed for the operation, which was executed under tight security to ensure a smooth process.
