CIDCO Cracks Down on Illegal Debris Dumping, Apprehends Three Truck Drivers

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has taken decisive action against illegal debris dumping, apprehending three truck drivers during a special operation last week. The individuals were caught dumping debris on acquired and under-acquisition land near the Atal Setu lane towards Ulwe. An FIR has been registered against them at the Nhava Sheva Police Station.

According to CIDCO, unauthorized dumping poses a serious threat to public health and the environment. In response, a coordinated operation was launched on March 1, 2025, under the leadership of CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer, with support from the Vigilance Investigation Officers, Security Department, Engineering Department, and the Police Department.

At approximately 5:30 PM, the operation led to the capture of three dumper truck drivers near Shivajinagar Toll Plaza, Ulwe, Navi Mumbai. The arrested individuals were identified as Pankaj Pal (24) from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh; Shakil Ahmad Siddiqui (31) from Govandi, Mumbai; and Mohammad Ansar (48) from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.

Following their apprehension, a case was registered at the Nhava Sheva Police Station under Case No. 0023/2025, citing violations of Sections 271 and 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. The case was officially filed at 10:50 PM on March 1, 2025.

CIDCO has urged citizens to stay vigilant and report any instances of unauthorized debris dumping through its official website, www.cidco.maharashtra.gov.in, or by contacting the nearest police station.
