Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration has significantly escalated its action against unauthorized constructions in the Madh area, based on forged maps. On May 13, 2025, 14 such structures in the Erangal and Valnai localities, under the P-North Ward, were demolished. This brings the total number of demolitions to 24 over the past two weeks.
In the last year, 101 unauthorized constructions, all based on fake maps, were discovered in the Madh area. As a result, a focused demolition drive has been initiated under the leadership of BMC Deputy Commissioner (Zone 4) Dr. Bhagyashree Kapse and Assistant Commissioner (P North) Kundan Valvi.
Last week, one bungalow and nine additional unauthorized constructions were removed. The operation on May 13 intensified the effort, targeting 14 structures. Among them, three constructions were located in Erangal, with sizes of 1,900, 1,700, and 650 square feet. The remaining 11 were situated in Valnai village, with areas ranging from 200 to 300 square feet each.
The demolitions were carried out with the assistance of three JCB machines and other equipment, while a team of 10 BMC officers, staff, and additional police personnel ensured the operation’s security.
The BMC administration confirmed that all 101 unauthorized constructions related to the forged map issue will be demolished by the end of May. The demolition campaign will continue until all structures are removed.
