BHIWANDI: Suraj Sharma, 27, was murdered in Anjur village of Mankoli on October 15. Within four hours, the Narpoli police had two of the accused in custody.

The killing took place near Mahadev Complex in the village. Police quickly set up a special team to find out who was behind it, and the two men were picked up soon after.

At a press conference, police said the murder grew out of a dispute over objectionable remarks Sharma had allegedly made about the sister of one of the accused, Akash Pawar.

According to the police, Pawar and his associate Sandesh Khandare killed Sharma, stuffed his body into a sack and dumped it at an isolated spot.

A third suspect is still on the run, and Narpoli police are looking for him.

Pawar and Khandare were produced in court, which sent them to police custody till October 21. Police are investigating the case further.
