Actor Vikrant Massey announces retirement, says it’s time to go home

Actor Vikrant Massey, renowned for his roles in 12th Fail, Haseen Dillruba, and The Sabarmati Report, has left fans stunned with the announcement of his retirement from acting. In an emotional Instagram post, Massey revealed that 2025 will be his last year in the film industry. In post he mentioned his desire to focus on his personal life and recalibrate as a husband, father and son.

Vikrant Massey wrote in his post, “The past few years and the years to come have been amazing. I thank you all for your constant support. But as I move forward, I have realized that it’s time to rebalance myself and return home—as a husband, father, son, and actor too. So, in 2025, we will meet each other for the last time.”

Although Vikrant Massey hasn’t yet revealed the reason for his break from acting, but his announcement has definitely disappointed his fans.

Vikrant’s last film is The Sabarmati Report, which was released on November 15. The film is based on the Godhra incident and the subsequent Gujarat riots. The film had sparked controversies ever since its trailer was released. Even the film’s lead actor Vikrant Massey was receiving threats.

Career Began with Television

Vikrant Massey started his acting career on the small screen. He worked in TV shows like Dharam Veer, Balika Vadhu, and Qubool Hai. After leaving a mark on television, he transitioned to Bollywood. Massey debuted in films with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera (2013). He first starred in a lead role in actor Konkana Sen Sharma’s directorial debut A Death In The Gunj.

In 2018, Vikrant Massey made his OTT debut with the web series Mirzapur, where he played the character of Bablu Pandit. Apart from this, Vikrant has also appeared in web series like Broken But Beautiful, Criminal Justice, and Made in Heaven. The actor will next be seen in Zero Se Restart, a prequel to the hit 12th Fail. The film will hit the screens on December 13, 2024.
