The Women and Child Welfare Committee of the Zilla Parishad will provide training in judo-karate, yoga, and life skills to girls studying in Zilla Parishad schools, as well as to interested female teachers. Additionally, rural women will receive counseling on domestic violence and related issues.
To help girls and women stand up against injustices such as abuse and sexual harassment, training programs of 90 days or 120 hours will be conducted for students from classes 4 to 10 and college-going girls, along with willing female teachers. Women suffering from domestic violence, sexual harassment, or other mental trauma will be provided with social, psychological, and legal counseling.
In areas lacking hostels, the Rural Development Department has also decided to arrange free accommodation for needy girls by renting buildings, houses, or flats. However, the cost of food will have to be borne by the girls themselves. A permanent mechanism will also be established to train women representatives in rural areas.
“Various decisions have been taken to improve the lives of girls and women in rural areas. These will be implemented effectively,” said Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore.
