Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the state of Maharashtra has moved into alert mode. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the police, Coast Guard, and Navy have been instructed to remain on high alert. All Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being strictly followed across the state.
Fadnavis also ordered full-scale mock drills across the state, focusing on blackout scenarios. The establishment of war rooms have been ordered in every district. Leaves of key department officials have been cancelled to ensure uninterrupted preparedness. CM Fadnavis held a high-level meeting at his official residence with police and administrative officials to review the state’s security measures.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed blackout preparedness and mock drills, and issued a series of directives:

- Leaves of senior officials from key departments like Health and Disaster Management have been cancelled.
- A coordination system must be established with hospitals during blackouts.
- Ensure backup power systems are in place.
- Use dark curtains or tinted glass to prevent visibility during blackouts.
- Inform the public about blackout protocols; create informative videos explaining blackout procedures and proper citizen behaviour during emergencies to spread awareness.
- Study the Union Government’s ‘War Book’ and communicate relevant information to the general public.
- Monitor social media accounts that may be supporting Pakistan.
- District Collectors have been authorized to use emergency funds for immediate procurement of essential supplies.
