Flying from Mumbai International Airport will become costlier from May 16, as the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has approved an increase in User Development Fee (UDF). This revised fee structure will remain in effect from May 16, 2025, to March 31, 2029.
Under the new rates, passengers will have to pay up to ₹695 as UDF. Currently, domestic travelers pay ₹120 and international travelers pay ₹187 per departure, a structure valid until August 2024. With the hike, the UDF for both domestic and international passengers will increase significantly.
According to AERA, the decision aims to ensure equitable distribution of aeronautical charges among all stakeholders. For domestic flights, the UDF will rise to ₹175 per departure. Previously, domestic passengers were charged ₹120 until August 2024.
For international travel, the UDF will differ based on travel class. Economy class passengers will now pay ₹615, while business class travelers will be charged ₹695 per departure.
Additionally, landing and parking fees for airlines have been reduced. These adjustments aim to maintain competitive airport charges at appropriate levels.
