Most parts of Kharghar city are experiencing low water pressure, and the issue has become severe across almost all sectors. Under the guidance of Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur, BJP Corporator Netra Kiran Patil, along with residents from various sectors, met CIDCO’s Joint Managing Director, Ganesh Deshmukh, to inform him about the inadequate water supply and acute water scarcity in Kharghar.
With summer beginning and the water supply already being inadequate for several days, residents are facing significant distress. The water crisis is particularly severe in sectors 11, 13, 19, 20, and 21, as well as in the Kharghar and Murbi villages. Despite multiple written complaints from housing societies to CIDCO, no concrete solutions have been implemented, leaving residents frustrated. Some societies in Sectors 19 and 21 have been consistently receiving low-pressure water throughout the year. Even after informing CIDCO’s water supply department officials, no action has been taken.
Since the beginning of March, water supply has either been extremely low or completely absent for several days, adding to the residents’ suffering. With the entire summer still ahead, residents are already being forced to rely on private water tankers, which is placing a financial burden on them. Residents have also raised concerns that while CIDCO continues to build new housing projects, it has not planned for an adequate water supply, leaving the general public questioning where the water will come from.
On behalf of all residents, a request was made to CIDCO authorities to take immediate corrective measures. In response, CIDCO’s Joint Managing Director, Ganesh Deshmukh, assured that once a key phase of the Balganga Dam project is completed, sufficient water will be available for all. Additionally, CIDCO is working towards the rapid implementation of the Nhava Sheva Phase 3 pipeline to improve water supply.
Residents urged CIDCO to resolve their daily struggles as soon as possible. BJP Kharghar Mandal Vice President Kiran Patil warned CIDCO authorities that if the issue is not resolved, a protest march or public agitation would be organized under the leadership of MLA Prashant Thakur.
Senior BJP leaders Dilip Jadhav, Jaywantrao Patil, Savitri Rao, Shubhalakshmi Shivakumar, Shailendra Shejwal, Dr. Swaminath Dhawale, Shashi Kumar, Bhushan Mule, BJP Industry Cell Coordinator Bharat Kondhalkar, BJP Yuva Morcha Secretary Aditya Hatge, Prashant Patil, and other residents were present at the meeting.
