NMMC Demolishes Unauthorised Constructions in Koparkhairane

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out a demolition drive in Koparkhairane on Friday, removing two under-construction buildings. Despite prior notices, the concerned individuals failed to act, prompting the civic body to take strict action against the unauthorized structures.

In Sector 15, Koparkhairane, the municipal corporation had issued a notice on March 6, 2025, to Narayan Namdev Thomre under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, for an illegal construction at S.S. Type, Room No. 21. As no corrective measures were taken, the structure was demolished. Similarly, Shalik Hallaya Naik was served a notice on December 12, 2023, for an unauthorized building at House No. 1123, behind Kukreja Ruby, Sector 12D, Ramnagar, Bonkode. This structure was also removed following enforcement action.

The demolition was conducted under the supervision of Koparkhairane Assistant Commissioner Vasant Mundavare and Junior Engineer Chandrakant Dhotre, with support from municipal officials, staff, and the NMMC police force. The operation involved seven laborers, two electronic hammers, one gas cutter, and one pickup van.

The NMMC has reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against illegal construction and has assured that similar enforcement drives will continue in the future.
