Panvel– The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an aggressive property seizure campaign against tax defaulters, resulting in action against 12 properties in the last three days. This initiative, led by Commissioner Mangesh Chitale and Deputy Commissioner Swaroop Kharge, is part of a broader effort to recover outstanding property taxes.
PMC’s Property Tax Collection and Assessment Department has been actively conducting seizures through designated teams, leading to a significant increase in revenue. Daily collections have reached crores as property owners rush to clear their dues to avoid further penalties.
On March 3, PMC’s recovery teams took action across different zones. The Kharghar team seized the office of Goodwill Infinity Society, targeting three defaulting properties. Jyotsna Prime Fitness was also subjected to seizure proceedings. In Kamothe, the property of S.M. Hade Patil was seized, while the Kalamboli team took action against JB Marble (Plot Nos. 34, 35, 36) and Narayan Rawaria (Plot No. 118) in the Marble Market. The Taloja MIDC team seized Bharat Coach Builders Pvt. Ltd. (Plot No. C-28).
To speed up the recovery process, PMC has increased manpower under the leadership of Tax Superintendents Mahesh Gaikwad and Sunil Bhoir. The intensified drive has led to a rise in voluntary payments by defaulters. In January, PMC seized 27 properties, followed by 21 in February. However, most defaulters cleared their dues, leading to the release of their properties.
PMC has introduced the ‘PMC TAX APP’ for mobile tax payments and has also enabled online payments through www.panvelmc.org. Property owners with queries can contact PMC’s toll-free helpline at 1800-5320-340.
