US Consulate in Mumbai Resumes Visa Appointments Post-COVID

Date:

The US Consulate General in Mumbai has resumed regular visa appointments that were paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes scheduling new appointments and accepting 221(g) submissions to help reduce delays for people wanting to travel to the US.

• The US Consulate General in Mumbai is now accepting routine visa appointments for all categories, which were previously halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

• The Immigrant Visa Unit at the Consulate has informed all applicants, whose appointments were canceled during the pandemic, on how to reschedule their appointments.

• The Consulate is now accepting 221(g) submissions, allowing applicants to submit additional documents required for their visa applications, ensuring a smoother approval process.

• For immigrant visa seekers, the process includes being sponsored by a US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or a prospective US employer with an approved petition from USCIS.

• After USCIS approves the petition and pre-processing with the National Visa Center (NVC) is complete, applicants can follow the provided instructions from the NVC and the Consulate’s website for further guidance.

• The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) will provide instructions for those selected in the Diversity Visa Lottery to continue their visa processing.
