Tragedy struck at Nirmala English School in Kandivali East, Mumbai, on Friday afternoon when an 8-year-old boy, Shivansh Manoj Jha, collapsed during his physical training (PT) class and died shortly after. According to police officials, Shivansh, a Class 3 student, was running during the PT class when he suddenly fell and suffered a seizure, possibly due to epilepsy.
Rushed to Hospital, Declared Dead
The school staff and principal immediately rushed Shivansh to Shreeji Hospital in Kandivali, where he was declared dead by the doctors. His parents then took him to Shatabdi Hospital, where the doctors informed the police about the incident.
Police Investigation Underway
The Samta Nagar police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are investigating the circumstances surrounding Shivansh’s death. Senior Inspector Pravin Rane stated that they are recording statements from the school staff and teachers to determine the cause of the fall and subsequent seizure. An autopsy report from Shatabdi Hospital is also expected to ascertain the exact cause of death.
School and Police Probe Continues
