Mumbai: To ensure seamless and stable ground handling operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai International Airport Ltd. (MIAL) has appointed Indo Thai Airport Services as the interim ground handler for three months, effective immediately.
This decision follows a joint meeting with all impacted airline partners aimed at facilitating a smooth transition from the outgoing ground handler, Celebi NAS Airport Services.
Earlier, MIAL, along with Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) terminated all ground handling concession agreements with Celebi Airport Services. The move came after the Government of India revoked Celebi’s security clearance due to national security concerns.
Indo Thai Airport Services — a Directorate General of Civil Aviation-certified agency currently operating at nine major airports across India — will collaborate closely with MIAL to uphold existing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and maintain operational excellence at Mumbai airport.
As part of the transition, all employees of Celebi NAS stationed at CSMIA will be transferred to Indo Thai on their existing terms and conditions. The entire fleet of ground handling equipment owned by Celebi NAS will also be leased to Indo Thai, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery during the interim period.
MIAL further announced it will initiate a Request for Proposal (RFP) within the next three days to onboard a long-term ground handling partner, who is expected to take over operations within the three-month interim.
A spokesperson for MIAL reassured airline partners and passengers, stating, “All ground handling operations will continue without disruption. MIAL remains committed to operational excellence, employee welfare, and delivering world-class service to our passengers.”
