Why Taloja Residents To Go On Indefinite Hunger Strike?

Date:

Navi Mumbai– Frustrated by an ongoing water crisis, residents of Taloja Phase 1 and 2 have warned of an indefinite hunger strike if their concerns are not addressed. In a large gathering held by the Taloja Federation, nearly 250 society members expressed their anger over CIDCO’s inaction and pledged support for future protests.

CIDCO MD to Be Confronted with Evidence

Following the meeting, the Federation decided to send an official letter to CIDCO’s Managing Director, requesting a direct meeting. A delegation will present documented evidence, RTI reports, and complaints exposing alleged corruption and mismanagement in the water supply system. The residents demand immediate corrective measures.

Hunger Strike Looms as Water Woes Persist

Federation President Prasad Dhage Patil announced that if no substantial improvement is seen within days of the CIDCO MD meeting, he and committee members will launch an indefinite hunger strike to highlight the severity of the crisis.

Next Steps: Protest and Social Media Awareness

  • Public Protest: If water supply is not restored within two weeks, a mass demonstration will be organized.
  • Investigation on Water Hyacinth Growth: A 5-member committee will examine the worsening condition in Phase 1 and 2.
  • Transparency Measures: Societies will maintain daily water supply records and track CIDCO tanker expenses.
  • Digital Campaign: Residents will amplify their grievances on social media, emphasizing that societies are spending ₹20,000–₹30,000 monthly on private tankers due to CIDCO’s failure.

With tensions rising, the ball is now in CIDCO’s court. The residents are determined—if their basic need for water is ignored, they are ready to take to the streets and fast indefinitely.
